What we collect, and what we do with it
Last updated 17 August 2026.
The short version
We collect only what is needed to process your donation and send you a receipt. Your card number, CVC, and full card details are handled entirely by Stripe and never reach our servers. We do not sell donor information, and we do not share it with anyone outside the people who need it to process your gift.
What we collect when you donate
| Field | Why | Who holds it |
|---|---|---|
| Email address (optional) | To send your receipt | Stripe, and us if the gift completes |
| Billing address | Collected by Stripe for card verification | Stripe only |
| Card details | To process payment | Stripe only — never touches our servers |
| Donation amount, currency, frequency | To charge the correct amount | Stripe and us |
| Giving type (Zakat, Sadaqah, etc.) and campaign | So Zakat can be tracked and reported separately, and so gifts to a specific programme can be attributed correctly | Stripe and us |
| Anonymity preference | If you choose to give anonymously, your name is withheld from any public acknowledgement | Stripe and us |
We do not ask for your CNIC, date of birth, or any information beyond what is listed above.
How payments are processed
Donations are processed through Stripe Checkout, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment system. When you enter your card details, you are entering them directly into Stripe’s secure page — not ours. We never see, store, or have access to your full card number.
We receive confirmation that your payment succeeded, the amount, and the giving type you selected. That is what allows us to send a receipt and report Zakat funds separately from general donations.
What “anonymous” means here
If you check “Give anonymously” at checkout, your name will not appear in any public list, donor feed, or acknowledgement we publish. Stripe still processes the payment under your card details, as required to complete any transaction — anonymity applies to what we make public, not to the payment processor’s own records, which we do not control.
How long we keep information
Donation records are kept for as long as is required for our own accounting and for reporting Zakat as restricted funds. If you ask us to delete your contact details, we will do so for anything we hold directly, though transaction records held by Stripe are governed by their own retention policy and by the accounting requirements we operate under.
