FAQs

Questions people actually ask

If your question isn’t here, message us on WhatsApp and a person will answer — not a form.

Donating & payments

Is my payment secure?

Yes. Payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified processor. Your card details go directly to Stripe's encrypted infrastructure and never touch our servers.

How much of my donation reaches families?

All of it. Shaan Welfare Foundation charges no platform fee. The only deduction is the card processing fee itself, which you can optionally cover at checkout so the full amount you intended arrives.

Can I cancel a monthly donation?

Yes, at any time and without needing to explain why. Message any of our WhatsApp numbers or email us and it stops immediately.

Will I get a receipt?

Yes. A receipt is emailed automatically as soon as your donation completes. If you need a formal receipt carrying our registration details for your own records, message us and we will send one.

Are donations tax-deductible?

Not currently. Tax-deductible status in Pakistan requires PCP (Persons/Institutions with Certified Philanthropy) certification, which we do not yet hold. We would rather say this plainly than claim a status we cannot evidence.

Can I donate in Pakistani Rupees?

PKR support is being finished and tested. In the meantime you can donate by bank transfer, JazzCash, or EasyPaisa directly in rupees — see the details on the donate page.

What if my card payment fails?

The donate page always shows our bank transfer, JazzCash, and EasyPaisa details as a fallback, so a card issue never means you cannot give.

Zakat & Islamic giving

Who has to pay Zakat?

Every adult Muslim whose net wealth has stayed above the nisab threshold for one full lunar year. Nisab is the minimum amount of wealth that makes Zakat obligatory — our calculator works this out for you.

Should I use the gold or silver nisab?

Most scholars recommend silver, because the threshold is lower and therefore more people qualify to give. Both are offered in our calculator.

How is my Zakat tracked?

Zakat is recorded as restricted funds and reported separately from general donations, and given only to recipients eligible under Islamic guidelines — never toward administration.

What is the difference between Zakat and Sadaqah?

Zakat is an obligation due once a year on wealth above the nisab threshold, at a fixed rate of 2.5%. Sadaqah is voluntary charity you can give at any time, in any amount, with no threshold.

What is Sadqa Jaria?

Ongoing charity whose benefit continues after the gift itself — supporting a school or a well, for example, rather than a single meal. We tag donations this way so their impact can be reported over time, not just on the day they were given.

About the foundation

Where does Shaan Welfare Foundation work?

We began in Orangi Town, Karachi — the largest informal settlement in Asia — and have since grown to work across Sindh, including free medical camps run jointly with Sindh Police in Korangi.

Is Shaan Welfare Foundation a registered charity?

Yes. We are registered under KAR NO 066 OF 2024-25, Societies Act XXI of 1860. Our registration number appears on every page of this site.

Why do your photos show a different name — 'Shaan Welfare Society'?

That was our earlier registered name, under Reg No. 1593. We are the same organisation — the phone numbers on those older banners are the same ones we use today. See the About page for the full explanation.

How can I volunteer?

Message us on WhatsApp and tell us what you would like to help with. We coordinate volunteers directly rather than through a form.

Where can I see how money was spent?

We publish what we can evidence rather than large unverifiable totals. Monthly figures are being published as they become available — ask us directly on WhatsApp for the current month.

Still have a question?

We answer on WhatsApp directly — no ticket number, no queue.
